THE CURE ANNOUNCE RE-SCHEDULED NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATES

Legendary Brit new wave masochists the Cure have (finally) announced the re-scheduled dates for 18 of the 19 previously announced fall 2007 North American tour dates. The new Cure tour will begin on May 9, 2008 in Washington, DC, and close on June 20, 2008 in New York City.

Tickets for the September/October 2007 shows will be honored for the re-scheduled May/June 2008 dates, and those ticket holders looking for a refund can get one in full up to November 1.

The Cure made the decision to move the tour dates scheduled for fall of this year to spring of next year in order to work on their new double album (details), and to “rework the live show for North America” (details).

In reference to the new dates, Robert Smith & Co. posted the following statement on their web site:

“It’s all happening slightly later than we expected due to ‘the playoffs.’ A lot of the venues we needed wouldn’t let us confirm dates in the March/April period, but we understand they all have to live in hope! However, an unexpected bonus of the new routing is that we have been able to add in Kansas City, Phoenix, Austin, Ft. Lauderdale, and Cleveland…We apologize again for the inconvenience and upset the original postponement caused, and will make sure that the new shows are more than worth the wait.”

All shows expect the original Seattle, WA date were switched, however, instead of no performace, the Cure will close the Sasquatch Music Festival (details) on May 25, 2008.
